Biography

Enrolled member, Ohsguaga Band – NC Nottaway Tribal Community (Meherrin Tribe), NCRS § 71A

Judge Zvenia currently serves as Administrative Chief Judge for the Nottaway Tribal Community and Chickamauga Nation, Court Consultant & Special Master for the Las Vegas Paiute Tribal Court, and Appellate Justice & Judge Pro Tem for the Southwestern Intertribal Court of Appeals (SWITCA) serving Arizona and New Mexico.

Legal Leadership & Committee Service

Judge Zvenia is a former appointed member of the American Bar Association’s Tribal Courts Committee (Judicial Division) and former Vice Chair of the Animal Law Committee and Workers’ Compensation & Employers’ Liability Law Committee (Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section). He previously served as Vice Chair of the Labor & Employment Practice Section and Co-Chair of the Health Law Section of the Federal Bar Association. Through this work, he has influenced both federal and state law and authored numerous publications on public safety and related legal areas.

He served on the Nevada Supreme Court AOC Order of Protection Committee and was the appointed Tribal Court Liaison for the Arizona Supreme Court’s Domestic Violence Court Committee (CIDVC), appointed by Chief Judges Charles Jones (2005) and Ruth McGregor (2007). Within CIDVC, he served on both the Domestic Violence Court Forms and Educational sub-groups. Judge Zvenia was also an appointed Commissioner of the American Bar Association’s Commission on Domestic Violence (2005-2006) and Past Secretary of the National Native American Bar Association (2002-2005).

Judicial Experience

Judge Zvenia previously served as Chief Judge for the Ft. McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribe and Judge Pro Tem for the San Carlos Apache Tribal Court, Cocopah Tribal Court, and Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Court.

Education & Credentials

Judge Zvenia holds multiple advanced degrees including a Juris Doctorate, Doctor of Medicine (Medicina Alternativa), Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Doctorate in Public Health, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Health Care Administration. He is a candidate in the National Judicial College’s Judicial Development Program at the University of Nevada, Reno.

He maintains practice admissions before the US Patent & Trademark Office, Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals, and numerous tribal courts including Nez Perce, Hoopa, Las Vegas Paiute, Moapa, Walker River, and the Confederate Tribes of the Goshute Indian Reservation.
